NIGERIA :: VOSO's Musings

Nigeria’s modern-day political landscape was forged out of a series of events that put this ‘giant’ on its current trajectory. Reminiscent of World War II, there are many moments that may have put our nation on a very different path, had different choices been made. In many cases, we may never know; we can however try to understand history and its impact on our present realities. After all, “those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it” (~George Santayana). In this collection of podcasts, I, Ayobami Akinyode Olunloyo, interview my father Chief Dr. Victor Omololu Sowemimo Olunloyo (VOSO), world-renowned mathematician, engineer and former Governor of old Oyo State of Nigeria. With decades of experience in the heart of the Nigerian political machine, VOSO shares an intimate portrayal of events, based on documented historical fact, eye witness accounts, and his own opinions, and takes us back to moments that could have changed Nigeria and particularly the South-West.
